A PMDC motor has a housing, a stator magnet disposed in an interior of the housing, and a rotor core disposed within the stator magnet. A ratio of an outer diameter of the rotor core to the outer diameter of the housing is from 0.60 to 0.67. The noise of the motor during operation is reduced by increasing the thickness of the stator magnet, reducing the outer diameter of the rotor core, reducing the air gap between the magnet and the rotor core and reducing the rotational inertia of the rotor core. The motor is particularly suited for use in vehicle HVAC systems where low noise is an important requirement.

The fast wearing components of agricultural machinery requires frequent replacement, which affects the work output as well as the quality of the equipment. Metallurgical techniques such as material selection, bulk hardening and surface modification are quite preventing for enhancing service life of these components. The study reveals that only 41% manufacturers were using steel conforming to BIS recommendations, based on the carbon percentage. The tested samples could be categorized in to mild steel (10%), medium carbon steel (56%), high carbon steel (28%) and high carbon tool steel (6%). The heat-treatment was observed in rotavator blades, disc, chaff cutter blades and sickle blades. But due to improper heat-treatment the grains of tempered martensite were found coarse. Except in case of export, the manufacturers do not undertake chemical, mechanical and micro structural testing. Heat-treatment has not been a part of their facilities.

For real time closed loop control, it has been used a PIC16F877 micro controller usage with 8 bit resolution. Only 3 membership functions which are called Negative (N), Zero (Z) and Positive (P) are used definition for FL algorithm, because of the difficulty to write the software to the micro controller via compiler program. Membership degrees of the functions are defined from 0 to 255 which is 8 bit unsigned maximum value. Integer numbers are used for programming algorithm, because compiler program using to write the software program to the micro controller is not enough sensitive for floating point number. Instantaneous values of the speed of the motor are transferred to PC with another PIC16F877 micro controller and plotting on monitor using interface program developed from DELPHI.

The hybrid energy system comprises fuel-driven DC shunt generator and photovoltaic (PV) array. The PV generator is integrated to the output of the DC generator through DC-DC buck-boost switch mode converter. The main idea of incorporating the inexhaustible PV generator is to reduce the overall fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the conventionally powered DC generator and therefore the system has been equipped with a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller such that to be able to extract the maximum energy available in the PV array at all solar irradiance levels. The MPPT technique of the PV generator is the open-circuit voltage method via adjusting the duty cycle of the DC-DC converter. The stability of the system operating point is studied via eigenvalues of the linearized system at various loading conditions.
