Function:
With the increasing requirements of computer application systems for power supplies, UPS is receiving increasing attention and has gradually developed into a power protection system with functions such as voltage stabilization, frequency stabilization, filtering, anti-electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, and anti-voltage surfing. Especially when the quality of the power line and power supply is not high, the anti-jamming technology is backward, and the computer system has higher power requirements, the role of UPS becomes more obvious.
The protective effect of UPS is firstly regulated by the mains power supply. The input voltage range of the UPS is relatively wide. Generally, it is from 170V to 250V. According to the new standard IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), UPS is divided into the following 3 categories according to its structure and operating principle:
(1) Passive backup UPS power supply
It means that the inverter is connected in parallel between the mains and the load and is simply used as a backup power source. In this UPS power supply, when the mains power is normal, the load is completely and directly supplied by the mains power. The inverter does not perform any electrical energy conversion, and the battery is powered by an independent charger. When the mains power is abnormal, the load is completely powered by the inverter. Device provides power.
Passive backup UPS has the advantages of simple structure and the cheapest price. It is applied to some non-important loads, such as home computers. However, when the utility power is cut off, the relay switches the inverter to the load. The switching time is long, and it usually takes a few milliseconds of interruption, so the slightly important computer equipment should not use passive backup UPS power.
(2) Online interactive UPS power supply
It means that the inverter is connected in parallel between the mains and the load and acts as a backup power source. At the same time, the inverter acts as a charger to charge the battery. The inverter's reversible operation mode interacts with the mains, so it is called interactive. This kind of UPS power supply, when the mains is normal, the load is powered by the modified mains, and the inverter is used as a charger to charge the battery. At this time, the inverter functions as an AC / DC converter. In the event of a fault, the load is completely powered by the inverter. At this time, the inverter functions as a DC / AC converter.
The online interactive UPS has the advantages of simpler structure, convenient implementation, easy paralleling, easy maintenance and repair, high efficiency, low operating cost, and high reliability of the whole machine. Its performance meets certain load requirements, and it is especially suitable for some computers in the network. The equipment uses a distributed power supply system. The disadvantage of this kind of power supply is that the voltage stabilization performance is not high, especially the dynamic response speed is low. Secondly, the anti-interference ability is not strong, and the circuit will generate harmonic interference and modulation interference.
(3) Double conversion UPS power supply
The inverter is connected in series between the AC input and the load, and the power is continuously supplied to the load through the inverter. This UPS power supply has the following power supply modes: when the mains power is normal, the mains power is supplied to the load through the rectifier and the inverter; when the mains power is abnormal, the storage device supplies power to the load through the inverter.
Double conversion UPS is the mainstream product of UPS power supply. It has the advantages of good performance, high voltage stability and frequency stability, strong function, hot backup connection and parallel redundant connection. The disadvantage is that when the capacity is less than Below 10kVA, its overall efficiency is not high, generally around 85%.
