A system for generating drive signals for a three-phased motor is disclosed. The system includes an integrator driving a threshold circuit which together operate as a voltage control oscillator providing a triangular output waveform. Timing circuitry provides AC coupled signals to an input of the integrator to vary time intervals within the triangular output waveform.  A servo system intended to steer antennas on board ships is designed, built and tested. It uses a Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motor with an encoder to keep track of its position, and Field Oriented Control (FOC) implemented on Toshibas microprocessor TMPM373 in order to control the current flowing to the motor. An apparatus for detecting the speed of an AC motor such a synchronous motor or induction motor of the type in which a pulse generator is connected to the shaft of the motor for producing pulses indicative of the motor speed. The motor speed is detected by counting clock pulses whenever the pulses are generated by the pulse generator.
